ASLI is honoured to co-host a distinguished panel of experts at our forum, Multidimensional Poverty in Malaysia: Key Challenges & The Way Forward.
ASLI CEO Danial Rahman moderated an engaging session featuring Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob, Board Member of MIER; Prof. Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Research Advisor at Khazanah Research Institute; Prof. Mahendhiran S Nair, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Sustainability), Sunway University; Dr. Muhammed Abdul Khalid, Research Fellow at UKM's Institute of Malaysian & International Studies; and Tan Sri Noorul Ainur, Professor of Practice at the Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development, Sunway University.
The forum highlighted the need for holistic strategies to tackle multidimensional poverty and emphasised the importance of avoiding inefficiencies and silos. Speakers stressed that understanding Malaysia's unique local context is essential in identifying root causes and crafting effective solutions. They also underscored the critical role of collaboration across government, academia, industry, and citizens to drive impactful change.
