Tampa Police are searching for three suspects believed to be involved in a string of auto burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of May 17th, 2024, in the Grand Reserve Apartment complex and the Remington subdivision of New Tampa.
The suspects are described as three black males, all approximately 5’8” between 150-160 pounds. They were all wearing white coverings on their hands, possibly gloves. Additional descriptions include:
• Suspect 1 had a black beard with a small mustache.
• Suspect 2 was wearing a black hoodie with large white lettering on the front, black pants, and white sneakers.
• Suspect 3 was wearing a black skull cap, black t-shirt, black pants, black socks, and black-soled slides with a white strap.
Detectives are asking the community to look closely at the video. Anyone with information that could help identify the suspects is asked to call Tampa Police at 813.231.6130 or contact Crimestoppers of Tampa Bay at 800.873.TIPS.
Don’t make it easy for criminals. Here are a few tips to help deter auto burglaries in your neighborhood:
• Thieves target unlocked vehicles. Always roll up windows and lock all doors, even for short errands.
• Do not leave valuables in plain sight. If you must leave something in the vehicle, be sure to use the trunk.
• Consider security options such as a car alarm or home security cameras.
• Unload valuables from your car as soon as you get home. Don't leave things tempting a thief overnight.
• When possible, park in well-lit, busy areas or in your garage.
• Be a helpful neighbor and report suspicious activity immediately to the police.
• Consider joining or starting a neighborhood watch program to increase awareness and deter crime.
