This is the introduction video to a series I'll be doing on Libertarian and Randroid talking points that I come across. It's an ad hoc series, but I have collected rather a large number of these talking points, so I will be uploading a batch of them rapidly over the next week or two. After that, there will be one talking point per video.
DISCLAIMER: I am aware of the existence of advocates of libertarianism who are not dogmatic, cult-like and/or egotistical, who care about their fellow human beings and don't want to completely tear the guts out of modern society just because they don't like to pay taxes. This series is not intended for them... It is intended for those who think everyone who doesn't follow the cults of Ayn Rand, Rothbard, Margaret Thatcher, Von Mises, Hoppe, the Paul family, the Koch brothers and so on., are evil totalitarianist statists who would love to make the world like North Korea, or are too stupid to live because they disagree... It is intended for people who invoke the false dichotomy that if you're not "one of us", you're "one of them"... People who think that it's big and clever to confuse their political dogmatism to a lack of belief in the supernatural, as if being an Atheist somehow gives them this moral high ground and intellectual superiority over those who disagree with them.
I'm an Atheist, but I don't assume that makes me the epitome of rational inquiry, yet these people do, even with the most ridiculous and vacuous of irrational claims and responses.
I will say as well that I think that libertarianism has a bit of an identity crisis... If people like theskepticalheretic and Glenn Beck, two people on opposite sides of both the religious, and critical thinking ability scales, can call themselves libertarians, then the definition is far too wide.
Off-topic: Those of you who are bored with politics and talking about the cult of Ayn Rand, I welcome video suggestions, such as who to respond to in terms of Creationist claims, lunar hoaxers, 9/11 Truthers, quantum mystics, or anything else you think is worthy of being addressed but hasn't been yet. Bear in mind, I will not be dealing with the likes of NephilimFree, as I have dedicated a lot of time to the guy in the past, and frankly, critiquing a bunch of videos by someone who is clearly off of his nut is like shooting fish in a barrel, and is not a challenge for me.
