Fight with one of the bosses in Battle Mode in the demo.
This is Chaos mode, acquired through means of CE of course. However, other than that, and a code to remove the arte pause, no other cheats were used; no hacked weapons, stats, skills, etc; everything was acquired by going through the level.
This boss is pretty tough, but still manageable with some skill and a little luck. I start the battle with using the MAs because the party will eventually die, losing all of their BG, so might as well get free damage. Unfortunately in this take, it wasn't nearly as smooth(usually can just MA, swap char, take 1 fwd step, attack, MA again) but eh, what're you gonna do =02? I use Magilou's swap attack to steal Dryad's infinite-A.Def buff, then swap Laphi back in; Geostigma and Kalaidos Ray can deal weakness dmg, plus KR has long animation that locks him in. After that, its simply "play good with Rokurou"("good" being used loosely =0b). If I knockdown the boss with the counter, and Eizen has more than 3 Souls, I'll switch to him and do his BS for a bit of extra damage. For Vel, its just "MA, then spam BS" (=_= )...
His normals, Mow Down, Freeze Lancer, Air Thrust, Gravity Well, and Hell Gate are simple for me to avoid or counter(and fortunately the AI is pretty good at not dying), but his Grave is extremely quick; it casts in 23 frames and the attack itself hits on the 33rd frame(i.e. it hits in half of a second) which makes it fairly difficult to dodge on reaction. He generally uses it to counter casters too and does well over a 1000+ dmg unguarded/650+ dmg guarded, making this battle much more difficult than it should be =01.
Hopefully as I get used to the battle system, I'll be comfortable enough to use multiple characters and avoid relying on single-direction moves ( =_=)...

Frederic(Cherias Guardian) is not a tough battle at all. He doesnt hit that hard, except for his Super Demon Fang, and maybe his Megasonic Thrust and Burial Blade, so its just slowly whittling him down til he dies. Im only missing Slow weakness, so I try to compensate by using Spread and Maelstrom, which you can tell that it was a strategy far from perfected ( )... Really, because of the lack of a Retry button, Im less inclined to go through the motions to get to these bosses, so the quality of the ZC battles may notably be less.
I hate the enemies on the 3rd floor(4000 EVA and practically infinite amounts of Iron Stance) so after losing my first 2 times to Amber, I just ran straight into battle, instead of fighting to lower the Enemy Str counter.
My only strat for Amber was to stick with low-level spells in-between A artes, since she has good mobility and Iron Stance during her long attack combo. Lately, Ive been really fond of Trinity Bit against close-and-short ranged foes. Mostly Pyrogenic Ring when outside my cryas range. She doesnt get dangerous until she starts tossing Crimson Discs, Infernal Torrents, and Rising Phoenixes, where most can inflict the Burn status and leave you stunned for her to follow up with something else, if youre unlucky. Fortunately, her defenses are on the low side, so it wasnt super hard for me to defeat her before she defeated me.
Unrelated note, I dont know why these videos dont look as clean as my Xillia ones, esp during spells; so much pixelation. Gotta get rid of this Hauppauge Capture crap and find something else )=0[ Tales of Graces ƒ- The Guardians(2) [Pascal solo]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/malC5KXwd2g/mqdefault.jpg)
![Tales of Xillia 2 : Julius - Leia 2024 solo
Two takes. Another boss that has no Iron Stance. Like Ivar, this means hell likely counter after 1 or 2 hits so my actions are limited. Julius is basically a cheap swords-Ludger, but hes still a manageable threat all the same.
The biggest threat in his arsenal is Falling Snow. It can be used as a counter both on the ground and in the air, is fast, and covers great range. If you commit to an arte and will end up within his range after you proc his counter, he will more likely counter with FS. Thats why youll see me stagnate after attacking after Rending Quake. Falling Snow can be dodged with either sidesteps, or a backstep, but for backsteps, you have to be within half its starting range with Leia to dodge it due to it having a lingering hitbox near the end range of the attack. His other general counter options are a normal attack kick, one where he axis mixes up then kicks, and Falling Thunder, all are super easy to dodge. For the axis mixup kick, like at ~1:51 that was a backstep input, but I forward step; I always pause then step, even when he doesnt mixup for consistency. Fortunately, he does other counters more often than FS, but I time my backstep in case he uses FS.
My strategy generally follows a flowchart based on what he does after using Darting Claw on him.
-if DC is countered, I backstep for FS; also dodges the kick, or avoids Falling Thunder; then an aerial RQ verrrry low after the dodge. If not, I still use an aerial RQ(verrrry low). It has to be low to the ground to avoid aerial FS counters.
-if RQ is countered, land, and use Rabid Lunge. Arte chase with DC, reset. If not, use Earth Roar into Swallow Flight. Attempting any attack after a counter here will result in him using FS.
-If Earth Roar is countered, SF wont lift him and Ill be above him to avoid an aerial FS; I either follow with Soaring Blast into RQ, or, RQ into Crescent Flash in an attempt to proc aerial FS, but be outside his range. If not, SF will lift him and Ill be below him to avoid aerial FS. He almost always counters with FS or OVL at this point.
-If he aerial FSs under me after SF, then Ill attempt to hit him with a falling backwards CF, then jump and use backwards RQ to get behind him. He might run into the RQ, but my goal is so that Ill land and reset the flowchart.
-On the 2nd take, if he FSs above me, I thought to follow with Eagles Rage since he will be behind me(I use CF prior to this to maintain my position in the air).
-If he guards, I use Linked Explosion. It will either break his guard and hell counter, or hell guard counter. I always expect FS, so I will ER at the appropriate timing to arte dodge it.
A very fun fight for me, I can confidently say its my favorite so far =03.
Bit of a side note, but Im also working with a technical limitation with this Logitech controller. I now notice that RPCS3 with the XInput handler, has a hard time reading the sticks, and loses the input if the stick movements are fast; while ps4/Dualsense handlers work perfectly fine and are very responsive. So if you see empty jumps, jump normals that hit nothing, and other random behaviors, this may be the reason why(pressing controls too fast to register. Yes Im blaming the controller =0b). Even though Im several bosses ahead while redoing this for the 𝑛th time, I lost both ps4/5 controllers by the time I fought Wingul. During this run, broke the charge port on the ps4 one, messed up calibration for right stick on my ps5 one (T_T ).

Nothing much to say here. This isnt flashy or anything; I was just having fun playing casually =03.
edit(Nov 8): Battle looks like crap D0=... dunno what I was thinking about trying to do all the moves at the end =0. Oh well, just wanted to get rid of this one before it gets lost in transition. It mightve been better to delete it, but since I wont be revisiting this game soon, might as well keep it. Not a hard boss. Long startup times make avoiding his attacks easy, but yknow, I like dem perfect dodges =03. Missed an input close to the end that caused me to stammer a bit, since I was on autopilot I guess, but eh, Ill take it nonetheless =03.
Zaveids not bad, but aside from Constrictor, he doesnt really have any mobility on his artes. This wasnt a problem in Zesty, because Eterniti skill allowed you to dash/step around as long as you had SC =01. He also doesnt have a Down arte, which is a boon because he would be best played as Eizen for wind cast time reduction skills(something I supposedly fixed afterward). Still enjoyed putting him through a good test =03.... or so Id like to think. I did not properly set him up; all his artes have 0 uses, so no arte-count-based title benefits. If theres ever a next time, he will get a proper setup to take advantage of arte-count-based Title skills.

Leia Xillia 2: Pluto - https://youtu.be/yreqmc7xeOA
Inspired to return for the briefest of moments after watching MattTheNoMoreHeros Milla version of the same battle. After coming from Xillia 2 makes me appreciate how much Leia had improved.
Fairly simple take this was. Just used Crescent Flash to stay just above their range, using Soaring Blast to knockdown and recover AC. Burn was used, but not needed really; my stats werent really all that inflated outside of STR and DEX(which DOES have some effect on inflicting status ailments), coupled with the fact that Swallow Flight has a good chance to inflict Burn, it was inevitable(thanks Matt for the clarification on that =03).
Id rather do this battle using a more straight-forward method, but because their range exceeds mine, plus they are 1-hit killers, this method was the simplest. Plus I have literally no way to avoid Chaotic Soul(a dark-element homing attack), so if when they got even one off, it was over for me.
