The main reason for doing this was just to try and do a parody video in the rotoscoped style of the original but I couldn't find any free software to recreate it effectively as the original was pretty groundbreaking (and time consuming) in its FX work at the time.
Fortunately my friend was able to do something comparable in 'After Effects' which worked out well enough.
In hindsight I wish I'd changed the lyrics to make it more of a parody.
This is my best approximation at a Morten Harket vocal impression.
I think I had the song in mind as I fancied doing a rocked up version of it in the covers band I now play in so was going to record it to see how it sounded.
