Another one we play in the band.
In Eb which I think they play it in live.
The biggest and best heavy metal band in the world? Probably.
I remember never listening to heavy metal thinking it was just an absolute noise then a friend gave me a cassette with The Black album on (and also Megadeth's 'Symphony of Destruction') and i listened to it and it reaffirmed my belief it was just a noise until, while lying in bed in the dark, 'My Friend of Misery' started and that was the turning point.
It absolutely changed my opinion and then I could appreciate it all from there. That was about 29yrs ago and I've been a convert ever since.
I know people take the piss out go Lars but this is one of the few tracks of theirs I can drum without cocking up - but then I'm not a drummer and don't practise much so it is what it is.
I added the strings just for the hell of it. Mostly improvised.
I deliberately didn't listen or watch S&M before recording so I wouldn't try and emulate Michael Kamen (as if I ever would be able to) and I don't think there's much danger of me getting a job as a string arranger for their next S&S concert.
