If you’re a dinosaur-loving Chicagoan looking for a fun adventure, then head over to Metra’s Union Pacific North Line and take a scenic ride to the end of the line in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
A quick 5-minute walk from the train station will bring you to Kenosha’s Dinosaur Discovery Museum!
The main gallery of the museum is filled with dinosaurs of all sizes and teaches visitors about the link between non-avian dinosaurs and avian dinosaurs (birds)
There are lots of panels all over the room providing tons of information about what you’re seeing.
Admission to the museum is free but donations are accepted at the door!
The museum is handicap accessible and open Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm to 5pm, and honestly you could spend the entire 5 hours in this fascinating room.
But there’s even more! Make sure to head downstairs and check out the active lab! You can see real work in progress and find some great interactive activities, too. I guarantee you’ll dig it!
They also have a great gift shop, and I picked up a Parasaurolophus — his name is Franklin.
This was my first visit to Kenosha’s Dinosaur Discovery Museum and I’m already eager to go back again!
