In the margins of mainstream design discourse lies a treasure trove of untold stories and overlooked contributions. The Syrian Design Archive emerges from these margins, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of graphic design heritage in Syria. Fueled by a desire to fill the gaps in documentation, this non-profit documentary project aims to archive graphic design elements and visuals, including Arabic typography, and preserve their evolution into a digital archive. By focusing on marginalized narratives within Syrian design, such as prints, media, street art, and stamps, the archive serves as a testament to the resilience and creativity of Syrian designers amidst adversity. Our team, self-formed and self-taught, navigates this journey with curiosity and determination, turning our lack of formal background into a defining feature that shapes the uniqueness of this archive.
