This video we will cover a Synology DSM 7 exclusive feature - Hybrid Share. This feature brings the power and flexibility of the Synolongy C2 cloud into our on-prem Synology device. Please subscribe.
Synology's new Hybrid Share will allow us Synology users and admins to create a shared folder with a certain amount of cache that will live locally, the rest of data will live up on the cloud, freeing up valuable storage space on our Synology NAS. This new and exciting feature will be a DSM 7 only feature.
Once you create a new Hybrid Share on your Synology DSM 7 device, you can also have other Synology NAS devices in other location mount the new Hybrid Share and start working with full collaboration.
With Synology's new Hybrid Share feature, even if you suffer an ISP outage, you will still be able to work on your data residing on your on-prem cache as if nothing happened. the DSM 7 operating system will resume the syncing once your ISP issue is resolved.
For enterprises and creative professionals, this new DSM 7 feature will probably be a life saver. enabling to move archive data up to the cloud for "cold storage". Synology DSM 7 exclusive feature - Hybrid Share has the potential to be a game there for these sectors.
The new Synology Hybrid Share feature (exclusive to DSM) is still in early stages beta and requires registration in order to participate. if you are interested, head over to Synology's C2 website to find the registration form.
Synology DSM 7 seems like a major improvement over the current DSM 6 in almost every aspect. I believe that we will see more DSM 7 Exclusive features in the near and far future.
