As part of the Department of Energy's (DOE) Genesis Mission, SYnergistic Neutron and Photon Science – Intelligence (SYNAPS-I) uses AI tools and state-of-the-art research techniques to accelerate discovery across national scientific user facilities.

By enabling real-time data interpretation during acquisition, the collaborative project is transforming how scientists use these facilities and how quickly they can publish results that benefit agriculture security, energy technologies, microelectronics, and more.

The collaborative effort is led by Berkeley Lab. The project includes scientists and users from Berkeley Lab, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), and Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).
