In this Sword Fight Analysis we'll have a look at the Woman Longsword Finals at Swordfish 2018. Swordfish is one of the most prestigious tournaments HEMA. You can find the whole footage on their channel, which I linked below. The final is fought out between Elena Muzurina and Izabele Saorin. Both had a great showing so far and defeated some great fencers.
For the analysis I used hudl technique (it's a free app were you can go through the footage frame by frame).
As lockdowns all over the world take place, we should not forget the context of our (solo) training, which is fighting. Tournament fights can be really useful since there is absolutely no cooperation between the fighters. While rulesets can induce some other artifacts, it's for the most part still the closest we get to a sword fight. Enjoy!
