“Sweet Happy Life” made its debut in the 1959 Brazilian film Black Orpheus. In 1965 Norman Gimbel (of “Girl From Ipanema” fame) added English lyrics to Luiz Bonfá’s tune (originally named the “Samba de Orfeu”) and Peggy Lee recorded her version the next year.
