Western’s Sustainability Engagement Institute (SEI) fosters educational opportunities and systems change for a sustainable, just future. It implements the University’s Sustainability Action Plan, hosts academic programs, and manages the Sustainability, Equity, & Justice Fund (SEJF).
Grace will cover the Institute’s history, mission, and curricular opportunities. Lindsey will discuss co-curricular programs like Pathways, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) forums, and SEJF. Kate will explain the Sustainability Action Plan and stakeholder engagement.
Ultimately, sustainability is more than just the environment. We view it as having four pillars: economic vitality, environmental protection, social justice, and well-being. We hold the University to its sustainability goals.
The Environmental Speaker Series is free and open to the public. Talks are held each Thursday at 4:30pm in Academic Instructional Center West, room 204. Join us at WWU or online on Zoom!
