Mario may have already defeated Bowser in the Dark World, but he feels that it might be advantageous if he inspects the whole world one more time to see if he can find any stars that have not been found yet. Apparently, Mario still has yet to obtain the world's 'Red Coin' star, as well as its '100 Coins' star. Regardless of what Power Stars Mario is after in this old area, however, he decides that he might as well pay Bowser another visit.
After Mario's revisit to the Dark World, he decides that it's time to head back to Bob-Omb Battlefield since he still has a chance to obtain its '100 Coins' Power Star. Acquiring the necessary coins for the Power Star does take him time, yes, but he may eventually get the star if he flies around the battlefield.
