This month's theme was your first video game! As someone who is 30 or 40 years old and had been play video games since she could hold a Nintendo controller I couldn't say which was the first one specifically but could point to a bunch that were among the selection I had access to. Super Dodge Ball was probably the first one I beat because it let you set it to easy mode 😅
The music in this game goes WAY harder than it has any right to - comparisons to Mega Man and Touhou came up during the arranging and recording process. Seriously check out the rest of the OST it's a banger.
I didn't realize until way way later on the USSR match theme was the folk song Katyusha, and of course since it was the late 80s they changed the order you took on each country for the US localization due to the Cold War, so the USSR was the final team to defeat because anything else would be unpatriotic and we have to show communism what's what.
Also as a life long NYC metro area resident I don't think any part of the skyline + statue of liberty works that way 🤔
