On May 18, 1956, Sugar Ray Robinson defended his world middleweight championship against Carl “Bobo” Olson at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Robinson won the fight via knockout in round 4 (2:51), finishing Olson with a powerful left hook to the chin. After a competitive start, Robinson took control and ended the bout decisively in the fourth round.

Both fighters weighed 160 lbs, and the fight marked Robinson’s first defense of his third middleweight title reign.

The bout drew a crowd of over 20,000 spectators, setting a California gate record at the time and highlighting the popularity of Robinson during his championship years.

This was the fourth and final meeting between the two fighters, with Robinson winning all four encounters.
