Join me for a stunning trip by sea and by road from my home in North Uist to Edinburgh, and then from Inverness back to home.
On the outward journey we sail from Lochmaddy in North Uist to Uig in the Isle of Skye with Caledonian MacBrayne aboard the ferry to the Outer Hebrides, the Calmac Ferries MV Hebrides.
We see aerial footage of the ferry arriving, we board, and then enjoy the journey to Uig.
From Uig we drive along the A87 to Loch Garry where we stop and take in the wonderful view of Glen Garry. Further down the road, on the A86 to Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie, we stop just past Loch Laggan and the Laggan Dam to brew up and heat up some home made lentil soup with the Solo Stove, powered by BioEthanol.
Thereafter we continue the journey down the A9 to the M90 and across the Queensferry Crossing.
Here we transition to the journey home from Inverness, crossing the Kessock Bridge and following the road to Ullapool as far as Garve before heading to Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye via Loch Carron.
After crossing the Skye Bridge we make a fuel stop in Broadford, and I show you where to find the LPG Pump in the Co-Op Petrol station in the Isle of Skye.
We continue to Uig, and back to Uist on a stunning evening aboard the CalMac Ferries MV Hebrides.
