Welcome to my first studio vlog! Join me in my art studio as I work on creating a picture book cover illustration for an illustration contest of unpublished children's picture books. After settling down for a yummy cup of coffee, I sit down to chat about and show more of my process of mixed media creation, meaning a combination of watercolor painting and digital post-production in Procreate on my iPad Pro. You learn how I create a cover illustration as I talk through the process after a time lapse, and you get a first peek at a small dummy picture book I made last year. Will I make the tight deadline I am up against and be able to submit my art work to the competition?
Time marks if you are only interested in specific content:
2:16 Picture Book Cover time lapse begins
3:43 Final illustration
4:03 Explanation of the mixed media illustration process I used
6:27 Talking through the idea for the story & the book cover (I put this last as I think many of you might be more interested in the previous parts)

I am an illustrator who shares her journey here on YouTube, IG and on my website. I have been on this path since March of 2019, and I learn more every day. I want to share that with you! I LOVE being creative, and learning. I believe in the growth mindset and that though natural talent can make a difference, so can persistence, practice, and enthusiasm.
My videos are focused on sharing my art work, focused on picture books and nursery room wall art, and what I have learned about: illustration time lapses, art tutorials and how-to videos, building an illustration portfolio, portfolio reviews, the children's book illustration process, my experience with attending conferences such as SCBWI, the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and reviews of taking art/illustration classes such as with Make Art That Sells, the Cambridge School of Art, urban sketching, and more. I love to grow, and I love sharing what I learn along the journey openly!
