Stress and Well-Bring with Katie Stewart, EDd

Dr. Katie Stewart is a 7th grade language arts teacher at Chattanooga Valley Middle School in Walker County and a 2024 Georgia Teacher of the Year finalist. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Lee University and both her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Doctorate of Education in Teacher Leadership from Kennesaw State University. Stewart has worked as a teacher in three states and in one foreign country, but she is most proud to be recognized as an outstanding educator in the community her family calls home. As the daughter of a lifelong educator, her father, who was also her speech and debate coach in high school, Stewart is passionate about incorporating speaking and listening skills into her classroom. Stewart cultivates a classroom environment that fosters critical thinking, creates a strong sense of community, and honors student voices. As evidenced by her role as President of the Walker County Association of Educators (WCAE), Stewart is a staunch advocate for public schooling. This workshop took place in April 2024.
