I'm always up for turning scraps into something completely different! What about you?
STRAWBERRY SYRUP
INGREDIENTS
1 c strawberry tops (washed well)
1 c water
½ to ¾ c of granulated sugar
1 to 2 tsp lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS
Add strawberry tops and water to a saucepan on a medium heat.
Bring to a low simmer and let simmer gently for 12 to 15 minutes.
When the strawberry water turns a red to pink color you know it’s ready. You want to strain the liquid and return it to the saucepan.
Add in your sugar and lemon juice. Stir on a low to medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is reduced to a syrup.
Simmer for 6 to 10 minutes or until the syrup starts to coat the back of a spoon.
Take it off the heat and let it cool. Then you can store in a bottle in the refrigerator.
