Anemone, directed by Ronan Day-Lewis, explores fractured relationships between brothers, fathers, and sons, as estranged siblings reunite in a remote cabin and confront their past and generational trauma. The film’s visual effects were created by Union VFX under the supervision of Simon Hughes, working closely with the director to support the emotional tone of the story. The project involved complex long shots and the development of new techniques to achieve the desired realism. Key VFX work includes the apocalyptic hailstorm sequence, carefully layered to maintain visual clarity, and a symbolic CG creature representing the protagonist’s inner trauma, inspired by the director’s own artwork.
