Most dog owners only work on the problem when the problem naturally happens.
If your dog freaks out when the leash comes out, runs away from it, jumps, or gets overstimulated before the walk, practicing it once or twice a day is not enough. You do not have to wait until the walk to work on it.
Take the leash out. Put it on. Take it off. Put it back on. Rep the trigger over and over so your dog can build confidence instead of only facing it when everything is already real.
