In this second short series looking at World War Two German anti-tank tactics and weapons, we look at the Tank Destruction Badge and ways a single soldier could win it, including using a jerry can and a grenade.
It was a fabric ribbon in silver (single tank destruction) or gold (five or more tanks destroyed). It emerged in early 1942 and was called the
"Sonderabzeichen für das Niederkämpfen von Panzerkampfwagen durch Einzelkämpfer" which when literally translated means "Special badge for the destruction of tanks by individual fighters".
