Stone Canyon Trail to Mt Lukens is a 10-mile loop in Angeles National Forest that climbs to the highest point in the City of Los Angeles at 5,074 feet, then descends via Grizzly Flat Trail through Big Tujunga Canyon. The route is tougher than the mileage suggests, primitive trail sections, creek crossings, and steady elevation gain make this an intermediate to advanced day hike. Best hiked in cooler months when the creek is flowing. No permits required. Expect solitude and rough trail conditions in spots.
