The Stockton Lantern Festival has been awarded a gold medal for "best new festival." The accolade happened this week at the International Festivals and Events Association's Pinnacle Awards in Pittsburgh. The festival and "Visit Stockton" also received gold medals in five promotional categories. The Stockton Lantern Festival debuted last year at Banner Island Ballpark and was visited by 45,000 guests. The lantern display attraction featured a magical forest full of giant art installations. The festival will return next month with a new theme, "Magic Ocean."
