Get ready to make a Double Irish Chain quilt for cosy season! This Jelly Roll friendly quilt pattern has been requested by many of our viewers and we're pleased to say Jeanette was more than happy to create this project.
The actual quilt pattern is a traditional quilt design that features interlocking, paired diagonal "chains" of colour. It is a simple construction made using two different and repeating quilt blocks. It can be made with a Jelly Roll and strip piecing making it a surprisingly simple and fast process despite its complex appearance. This tutorial uses the strip method and is suitable for a confident or advanced beginner.
This is a pattern which works with various color combinations - Jeanette has used a light background and a contrasting color for the chains in a lovely cosy autumnal palette but you could easily customise this - use stars in the white spaces, create impact with bold colour blocks or get creative and choose a dark background with lighter coloured chains.
Accuracy is key if you make this quilt - use an accurate 1/4'' ! Jeanette has advice for checking.
