It's never too early to start sewing for Christmas! Transform a Jelly Roll into a stunning festive bow to hang on your front door, a banister or even on your tree. You can make 2 of these bows from just 1 Jelly Roll. Jeanette shows you exactly how to create a beautiful fabric bow that adds a handmade touch to gifts, wreaths and table decorations this Christmas.
Jelly Roll strips are perfect for this project. They are pre-cut, co-ordinated and ready to go straight from the roll.
What you will need to make your Jelly Roll Bow:
Pelon flexi-foam or any similar foam - Jeanette used foam but a firm wadding and/or interfacing will also work depending on how stiff you want your bow to be. Use what you have in your stash!
Bow top
Jelly Roll strips (15) 6.5" x 2.5"
(13) 10.5" x 2.5"
Foam: 23.5" x 11.5"
Bow tail
Jelly Roll strips: (5) 16.5" x 2.5"
(28) 10.5" x 2.5"
Wadding: 37.5" x 11.5"
Bow wrap
Jelly Roll strips: (4) 2.5" squares
(1) 8.5" x 2.5"
Top tips from Jeanette if you make this project:
- Cut the longer sections first
- Remember to leave a gap for turning on the front of the bow
- When stitching through foam, increase your stitch width - Jeanette used 2.5
- Backstitch on the corners to add a bit more strength
- Use a quilting needle if you're using foam
- Quilting stitch width for wadding on bow tails is 3
