Volume number 5 of steam locomotives at speed captures 20 mainline steam engines racing along the UK mainline with speeds ranging from 60mph to 75mph. All actual speeds are captioned in the video and these are provided by professional timers who have kindly provided their reports from on board or other fellow enthusiasts who were also travelling and kindly provided the speed at our video locations. When the actual speeds are not known or haven't been provided I have calculated the speed within a 5mph range to allow for any minor miscalculation, I am very confident that the speeds indicated do not exceed or fall any lower than the stated range. The majority of scenes which includes a diesel on the rear is providing (No Assistance) The video was compiled this way to make sure steam is the primary source of power.
