Ever wonder what it takes to get ready for the Joint Statistical Meetings—the largest statistical event in North America? Ron Wasserstein, executive director of the American Statistical Association, gives us a rare peek behind the scenes at ASA headquarters as preparations ramp up for JSM 2025 in Nashville.

Each July, the ASA conference room transforms into a bustling shipping hub, filled with labeled boxes, electronics, and ASA store inventory. On July 23, a truck came to haul it all to Nashville—and most of the ASA staff won’t be far behind!

Ron shares a lighthearted walkthrough of the process and reminds us of the enormous effort that goes into making JSM such a dynamic and welcoming experience for the statistical community.
