The American Statistical Association continues its important advocacy work on behalf of the federal statistical system. In an update from the Capitol grounds, ASA Executive Director Ron Wasserstein highlights how ASA staff—led by Science Policy Director Steve Pierson—are working behind the scenes to champion the needs of statistical agencies.
Just this past month, ASA staff met with congressional staff from both parties to discuss the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Economic Research Service, Energy Information Administration, National Agricultural Statistics Service, and National Center for Education Statistics. For each meeting, Pierson invited former leaders of these agencies to ensure staff heard directly from authoritative experts, alongside the ASA’s research-driven perspective.
