In this video, Starray, released in 1988 for the Atari ST by Logotron.
Defender is one of the most iconic early games in videogame's history and spawned many clones. Starray is one of them, where you have to defend terrestrial bases and get rid of those annoying aliens with your ship which is equipped with a deadly laser. After one sector is cleaned you go to the next, until there are no more invaders.
For a 1988 game Starray sports impressive graphics, with 7 layers of smooth horizontal parallax scrolling (the Amiga version had only 5 layers). The main sprite is well animated, while the aliens sprites are ok. Title music is awesome while in-game music and sound fx are ok. Utilizing the amazing power without the price of the ST, Logotron managed to make Starray a high quality Defender-like game with good playability and well balanced difficulty.
Here you'll find intro with digitized music and gameplay.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.
