Late upload... Here's part 2 of the process for my Starcraft x Halo mash up fan art.
I did this for a mini contest at Deviantart. Unfortunately, I didn't win but I'm one of the finalists!

Anyway here are a few relevant tips for digipainting stuff like this:
-ALWAYS do thumbnail sketches for the composition and the layout of the elements especially for complicated scenes like this.
-I've realized that sometimes, you have to let go in detailing of your work. Just focus on the important elements which would be seen first. Not only will you save more time to reach the deadline but you'd have more time for other artworks... or rest...
-FAN ART can be fun to do but in the long run, it's not good for your portfolio since you're not really doing original work. The only exception is when you do fan art that improves greatly on the original. It's rare but some people can do this and get a real job from it.
