Season 1 Episode 19
Episode: "Coming of Age"
The Enterprise arrives at the Earth colony Relva VII to give Wesley Crusher an opportunity to undertake his entrance exam for Starfleet Academy. The Enterprise also receives a visit from an old friend of Captain Picard, Admiral Gregory Quinn; shortly upon his arrival however it's apparent that Quinn has more business on his mind than pleasure as he is accompanied by Commander Dexter Remmick from the Inspector General's office so that he can perform an intrusive investigation of corrupt behaviour aboard the Enterprise.
Caught in a turmoil over grades that didn't see him qualify for the entrance exam for Starfleet Academy, Jake Kurland loses his shit and steals himself a shuttle from the Enterprise's shuttlebay having decided to make a run for it rather than face his father with his disappointing news. Once clear of the Enterprise however, Kurland makes a schoolboy error that shuts down the shuutles engines whilst it's in close proximity to Relva VII. With Kurland's destruction imminent, and not many options on the table, it's Captain Picard who grabs this situation by the scruff to save Kurland's life.
