Episode: "Datalore"
Arguably my favourite story of Season 1. The Enterprise enters the Omicron Theta system for a quick visit to a former Earth colony, also the planet on which Lieutenant Commander Data was discovered. Commander Riker leads an away team down to the long abandoned and largely dead world, picking up on the location where Data was discovered some 26 years prior, the away team locate the hidden advanced cybernetics laboratory, a facility run by Data's creator, Doctor Noonian Soong. The away team find their way into Doctor Soong's lab where the make another startling discovery; another Data-like android disassembled in storage. Naturally we're all eager to see what happens when this android reassembled but unfortunately a can of worms is opened and this android, Lore despite looking, sounding and smelling like Data is actually unstable, ambitious and dangerous. - Data's evil twin!
The Crystalline Entity has arrived at the Enterprise's position and Lore is working his plan to drop the Enterprise shields so that the life form can move in and take all the life aboard the starship. Data arrives just in the nick of time of course to save the day.
