Episode: "Where No One Has Gone Before"
Kosinski, a Starfleet propulsion specialist beams aboard the Enterprise accompanied by an unusual alien being who serves as his assistant, so that they may perform a series of tests on the Enterprise's warp drive. Two warp experiments are performed and both times the Enterprise is launched across unimaginable distances (read that as hundreds of millions of light years distance!) with no clear guarantees that the ship will ever make it back safely to Federation space.
The Enterprise makes it safely back to Federation space however in doing so the Traveller has phased completely out of our reality. Hot on the heels of his private conversation with the Traveller, Captain Picard orders a visit from Wesley so that he can set him on his path of exploring his potential and perhaps see if he really will one day present himself as a modern day Mozart.
