Server glitches early in the race made for some surprise sudden lead changes, but thankfully didn't cause cars to materialize on top of one another.
These 1960 front-engine Indianapolis 500 roadsters are quite tricky to drive!
After I had a more than 3-second lead and could maintain that, I realized that the server had mistakenly been set not to count yellow-flag laps and thus the race distance was 10 laps longer than scheduled (after two caution periods to begin the race). I nursed it to save fuel, gave up the lead, but then fought for it thinking I might have enough. I didn't. I did finally re-take the lead but had to pit that very same lap -- three laps from the end.
So, though I had pole position by about 0.2, led the most laps and had fastest lap of the race, I had to settle for a third-place finish.
The end of the video shows two views of a rather large accident that was the cause of the second yellow flag to fly within the first 10 laps of the race. It also was the last yellow flag of the race, however. Despite the difficulty in driving these cars, the remaining 13 people ran a good solid 60 laps to the end.
