Keeper1st | Notes on Japanese Splatoon 2, e.g. Pearl/Marina relationship @Keeper1st | Uploaded July 2017 | Updated October 2024, 4 days ago.
A video version of a bunch of screenshots I posted on Facebook with Japanese translations and notes about things seen in the Japanese version of the Splatoon 2 Splatfest World Premiere, both pre- and post-Splatfest.
I explain what the Japanese text tells us about the relationship between Pearl/Hime and Marina/Iida, as many have been wondering why Pearl seems so mean and Marina seems so demure. I also explain the Japanese puns or double meanings in a lot of the text from various characters in the game.
There are some things talked about that aren't new to the Splatoon universe, like the meanings of "Haikara" and the significance of the fax machine that announces Splatfests. But I'm sure those tidbits still may be new to many people.
I am a stutterer, so please forgive awkward pauses or sound repeats as I try to keep it under control. I do pretty well compared to when I was a kid!
