On March 21, 2024, at approximately 12:45 AM, an officer with the Orlando Police Department and a partner responded to a call for service regarding a trespass at a hotel on Universal Blvd. The Best Western manager met with the officers, stating that she wanted two females and two males who were causing a commotion to leave the property. Upon locating the individuals who were staying at the hotel during their trip to Disney, the officers informed all parties they were being trespassed. Despite the warning, the parties continued to argue.
After further instruction to pack, one individual returned to the room and another began arguing again. As an officer attempted to escort one individual out of the room, that person intentionally swung their right hand, striking the officer's arm against their will, causing pain and discomfort. The officer was wearing an agency-issued uniform displaying "Orlando Police" at the time. In the attempt to arrest the individual for battery, they resisted by grabbing the bed and kicking the officer
