On August 30, 2022, at approximately 11:34 PM , a Gulf Breeze Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration. The driver failed to yield immediately, continuing across the Bob Sikes Bridge and into a residential condo complex. Upon making contact, the officer found the occupants to be immediately irate, yelling profanities at the officers. The officer detected an overwhelming odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and the driver, who was observed to have bloodshot and watery eyes. While the driver claimed she had only consumed one beer while driving home from the beach, the officer noted the odor of alcohol was strong enough to be detected from several feet away. The driver, who worked as a hostess at a local bar and grill, initially agreed to perform sobriety tasks to prove she was fine to drive, but her demeanor quickly began to shift from calm to irate.
