Sport is the backbone of great content, from live sports, to game shows and comedy. What’s the future of kids’ sports content and can it give a boost to our industry?
We are Family carried out research at the end of 2023 with over 4,300 children worldwide (1,000 in the UK) about sport. Over 65% of 7-12 year olds in the UK consider themselves a sports fan and the number one way they like to indulge their fandom is through consuming sports content. From dramas such as ‘Jamie Johnson’ and ‘Mustangs FC’, to the content that clubs and players produce for TikTok, all the way to Olympics coverage, children consume a lot of sports content. This session will consider how sport can better service the needs of children. With many streamers turning to sport as their next rich seam of content, what are the opportunities and pitfalls for children’s producers across the spectrum.
