We headed down to Greer Ranch for Spoke X and Orbea Demo Day. I have never ridden an Orbea before so I was excited to check them out. I was able to demo the Orbea Rallon, and Rise. Noah, Luis and Matt were able to demo the Occam and Wild. I really wanted to test the Wild but we were unable to take off the pedals.
The first bike I tested was the Orbea Rallon which is their long travel enduro bike. It was set up with 180 fork and 170 rear travel. Right off the bat I would say this is probably one of the best looking bikes period. The lines on the bike especially that razor thin top tube is sexy AF. My first impressions was it climbed way better than expected especially for a long travel enduro bike. Going down the first lap the bike was very stiff and responsive. I didnt even realize I had the shock locked out. On the 2nd lap after I opened the shock it felt so good. For what ever reason I normally don't like the way fox suspension feels but on this bike it feels better than any other bike with fox suspension I have ever ridden.
The next bike I demo was the Orbea Rise, this is their light ebike 160 fork and 150 rear travel. I was really surprised at the weight, this bike only weighed 42 lbs and this is with the Shimano EP801 Gen 2 motor. This is actually a full powered motor, it gives 85 nm but limits the watts to 600 so is more efficient. When they explained this to me I was expecting the motor to feel like other light motors (Fazuz and TQ) but it actually felt like a full fat e bike. I honestly didnt feel like it weaker. This might be because I am only 150 lbs and also I was on the green light which I assume was boost. Due to lower watts the bike doesn't use as much battery so this bike had a 600 wh battery and it had more than 50% when I returned it.
I didnt get a chance to ride the Wild which I was very disappointed because if it felt as good as the Rise with more travel that would be a game changer.
