We set out for a rare June splitboarding mission deep in the Montana Absaroka Mountains backcountry — chasing spring snow and solitude. With boards on our backs and 5,000 feet of elevation ahead, the day tested us physically and mentally. Blowdowns, avalanche debris, and shifting weather challenged our every step, and just as we neared the summit, thunder echoed through the peaks. In this episode, we reflect on knowing when to push forward and when to turn back.
