You can initiate this move whenever you are in a position to pass the lead hand across the body so a collar tie or neck clinch is an ideal starting position. The key movements here are to drop the front shoulder across the body, turn the lead foot so that the heel is pointing at your opponent and then establish a vertical line through the shoulders. With this in place you can deliver a hard elbow strike between your opponent's guard.
We demonstrate this being delivered while we are wrestling on the wall but it could equally be utilised in open play.
