Ruth E. Carter is a trailblazing, two-time Academy Award-winning American film costume designer, best known for her vibrant and culturally rich costumes for Marvel's Black Panther films.

Her storied collaboration with film director Spike Lee, who gave Carter her first opportunity in film costume design, has led to twelve films together over several decades.
