Spider-Man: Brand New Day NEW trailer is finally here and here is my trailer reaction — Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is completely alone, nobody remembers him, and this looks like the beginning of an entirely different Spider-Man era.
In this video, I’m reacting to and breaking down the official trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the next chapter in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man story.
Four years have passed since the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker is now an adult living alone in New York City after erasing himself from the memories and lives of everyone he loves. With no family, no friends, and no personal life left, Peter has devoted himself completely to being Spider-Man.
That is such a powerful place to begin this movie.
The ending of No Way Home gave us the most isolated version of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker we have ever seen. He sacrificed his relationship with MJ, his friendship with Ned, and every connection that made Peter Parker feel like a real person. Now he has the freedom to become Spider-Man full-time — but that freedom comes at an enormous emotional cost.
This trailer looks like it is finally giving us the street-level Spider-Man movie fans have been asking for.
Peter is alone in New York, fighting crime, facing new threats, and crossing paths with characters who could completely change the direction of his story. Sony’s confirmed cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Tramell Tillman, opening the door for MJ and Ned’s return, Punisher entering Spider-Man’s world, Scorpion finally coming back, and Bruce Banner becoming involved in Peter’s new chapter.
The official premise also reveals that Peter undergoes a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence. That adds a completely different mystery to the film. Is something changing Peter’s powers? Is his body reacting to years of being Spider-Man? Is another force corrupting or transforming him?
Whatever is happening, this does not look like Peter can simply punch his way out of it.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking over the franchise, and this trailer suggests a movie that could balance grounded New York crime, emotional isolation, massive Marvel characters, and a strange physical threat connected directly to Peter himself.
