SpecialK indicates that Spider-Man 2 uses DirectStorage with GPU decompression. This is a DirectStorage/GPU Decompression on vs off comparison at 3 different resolutions. In a previous video on this channel, as well as testing by other outlets, it was shown that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, which also uses GPU decompression, experienced a performance degradation with DirectStorage enabled, without any benefit to texture streaming. It appears that Spider-Man 2 suffers from the same issue.

To disable DirectStorage, simply remove the dstorage.dll files from the game folder.
