There's a fascinating little bit of railroad history in Bear Gulch! A logging railroad with very little record besides a few photographs ran through here. This was the northern most portion of the line, and while there's a lot more to be said about this line, the single most interesting thing to me, is that, judging by the photos, the line appears to have been 30" gauge, making it a particular oddity in North America.
This was a nice little hike in a pretty spot! We saw not a soul along the way. My buddy makes a quick cameo!
