I love action films, and I heard a lot of great things about The Furious starring Xie Miao and my boy Joe Taslim. Indonesian represent. I didn't even realize that I recognize Xie Miao as the badass kid that got paired with Jet Li a couple times. To see him all grown up playing the dad to a daughter that got kidnapped by human traffickers, that makes me feel incredibly old.
And yes, that's the premise of the film: Two furious dudes going against human traffickers to find the people they love, and one of the villains is played by Yayan Ruhian. Another Indonesian represent.
Not much to say on the story part. In fact, the story is nothing special, but that's not why you're in an action film. You want to see the action, and the action is IMO some of the craziest and most meticulously choreographed action that I've ever seen. It is brilliant. It is brutal, ruthless, and does not take any breaks whatsoever. It keeps on going and going, and every character operates like they are in a permanent rage mode, or furious mode more like.
That being said, I do find it surprising that the film opens with Jeeja Yanin of all people playing as Joe Taslim's wife, the lucky bastard. She's a female Thailand action movie star, and if you're not familiar with her work, I recommend seeing Chocolate and Raging Phoenix. Excellent action films as well. Unfortunately, she's not in The Furious that much, and I do want to see more of her kicking ass.
Other than that, this film is fantastic. It is brilliant. It is relentless. It is as brutal as an action film can get, just stop watching this short and go watch The Furious on digital right now. I recommend it.
