If your spacebar media preview is not working correctly on macOS, this quick tutorial might help you fix that. This is for when the video or audio opens but doesn't play when you press space.

SOLUTION 1: Cmd-Opt-Esc to open Force Quit Application List & Relaunch Finder.
SOLUTION 2: Switch sound device to a different device and then switch back.
Both of these might resolve it. I say might because, as with everything, there are many solutions to a problem and reasons it can occur. This works on my setup but yours may be different. Let me know in the comments if it worked for you.
