In this video, I design and build a speech synthesizer ISA card for PC compatible computers. While I could have opted for a parallel port synthesizer or a serial synthesizer, I thought designing an ISA card would be fun. The SP0256A-AL2 is a phonetic speech synthesizer capable of arbitrary vocabulary. I wrote a Turbo Pascal program to speak using the board, and try it out in an Xi 8088 PC-compatible computer.
